by Marcel Anders (18.07.2006) For five years, the thrash gods have worked on their 10th album. But it was worth the wait: the eleven songs are a great blend of "God hates us all" and "Seasons of the abyssβ. There is, for example, "Catalistβ, featuring plenty of complex rhythm and time changes as well as breathtaking guitar solos. Or "Jihadβ, beginning almost calm and culminating in a wild hardcore/thrash blast. Beside Kerry's high speed solos, especially the ingenius technique of the returned Dave Lombardo is striking. This man drums like an octopus adding a lot of power to the old guys. Lyrically, they deal with attacks on 9-11, 2001 - from the view of the terrorists. With the memorable chorus, "die, die, die!β Similarly is also the theme in "Eyes of the insaneβ, describing the terrors of war from the view of the poor soldier being slaughtered for cheap oil - accompanied by a powerful bass and almost mellow song structures - the influence of producer Josh Abraham (Korn) who kept the songs beautifully short and compact. A positive surprise!
