by Eugen Legat (July 2004) The old label of the Canadian Prog Rock legend couldn't have chosen a better moment for the release of this high-value compilation than the 30. Birthday of the band which finally has announced plans to perform in Europe again. The oldest recordings form the first half of the life of these exceptional musicians are just insignificantly extended live-shots of gigs or in rehearsal/recording studios. Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson in nostalgia highlights, such as "Closer to the heart", "The trees", "Limelight" or "Tom Sawyer", long haired as like as frontman Geddy Lee - cult! The same can be said about the clips from the 80s. As pioneers on the field of computer animation and trick and real film combinations - just watch the acting of the band on the Monopoly-field in "The big money" - this is true retro-trash. Of course, you see in these shots from the early days of this technique how fast they'd become outdated. But this is great entertainment of a fantastic band. (Eugen Legat - July 2004)
