by Thomas Clausen (12.07.2010) Let’s face it: after "Danzig III - how the gods kill", his masterpiece released 1992, Blues Goth legend Glenn Danzig had lost the major part of his former magic aura - not very inspired later releases such as "Circle of snakes" didn’t contain much of the well-known dark passion and genius any more. But lo and behold - his latest album (#9) features the notorious Mr. Muscle brimming with his ominous, saturnine charisma of the past! Even if you need some time to get adjusted to the sound quality (the master himself produced the album): listen to songs like "Hammer of the gods", "Pyre of souls seasons of pain", or "Ju ju bone" and take off your hat. "Deth red sabaoth" oozes dark energy, velvety atmosphere, midnight feeling, strange secrets and red-hot fire - we have missed that for a long time. Good to have you back, Mr. D.!
