"Heralding - The fireblade" CD by Falkenbach

by Markus Eck (October 2005) It was supposed to be released before the '96 debut-album, "En their medh riki fara", this brand new collection of songs called "Heralding - The fireblade". But in lack of the right equipment and the adequate competence of the producer, the recording process was stopped and the songs partly finished by then never released - like e.g. "En their medh riki fara" or also "Of forests unknown". After the new recordings in the Tidal Wave-Studios in Karlsruhe under the supervision of Patrick Damiani, the fans of the powerful Viking Metal-majesty called Falkenbach now finally get to hear the old but truly valuable compositions. I could waffle for pages about how thrilled I am of the new heathen-hymns - but inside this reduced review-frame I can only state: "Heralding - The fireblade" is an illustrious masterpiece of the thundering, melodic anger of the epochal '96 debut and the majestic, opulent epic of the last, 2003 studio-album, "Ok nefna tysvar ty".
