by Markus Wosgien (30.10.2009) Right on time for their 20th band anniversary, German Power Metal outfit Brainstorm present us with their brand-new CD still hot from the press. "Memorial roots" is extremely energetic, yet straighter and less aggressive than "Downburst", their last opus. The boys are strutting their stuff: ripping riffs and mighty melodies rule. Be it a classic Speed Metal smasher à la "Cross the line" or a melancholic, moving track as "The conjunction of 7 planets" - on their eighth album, Brainstorm prove once again, that they’re still able to deliver surprises and classy Teutonic steel, lining up one highlight after the other. The mixture of tough, fast, groovy, progressive, and calmer tracks is well-balanced and makes for a nice variety. As usual, the production leaves nothing to be desired, so this is another brilliant, convincing, addictive Metal gem by Brainstorm.
