by Tero Lassila (07.10.2007) While on the last two records, they had wildered in extremely heavy regions, they now take a step back and orientate in the earlier records offering some a surprise indeed. Already the opener, "Sign of fear" brings back the old comparisons to Judas Priest. But that's not the point. With a handful of prominent guests, they recorded some really great songs. Such as, e.g., "Everytime it rains", on which Ralf Scheepers duets with Epica-songstress, Simone Simons. An atypical song structure for Primal Fear but definitely one of the highlights on the album. Also very interesting is the trilogy-like "Fighting the darkness / The darkness / Reprise", with its bombastic, instrumental middle part. Great! "Blood on your hands" returns to big, phat, solid Power Metal as it has to be. Very tight is also "Too much time". You can look from whatever way you want, "New religion" is definitely the by far most variable and changing Primal Fear-album, ever!
