Excellent Service

Danes voice is so distinctive, that Nevermore-comparisons are not weird. However a softer, more relaxed atmosphere dominates, which supplements the main band.

by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (04.08.2008) The refinement of this raw diamond set in as early as the late 80s (Sanctuary) and with Nevermore permanently reached new highlights. In their dramatic ballads, Warrel Dane since "The sanity assassin" gave a hint of what he is emotionally capable of. By this unique, warm voice, "Praises to the war machine" is always accompanied by a vulnerable, thoughtful and melancholic aspect. Even if Dane, like in the verses of "Messenger" (killer chorus!), screams in the most energetic regions. In the Sisters Of Mercy-cover, "Lucretia my reflection", he sings unusually deep and clear. Like expected, the material is less psychotic than in Nevermore – also Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork, composer of the raw Nuclear Blast anniversary album) explores new facets. There is no lack in impressive heaviness "Obey", yet, the highlights are what a record label mate called men Emo: the wonderfully relaxed "Your chosen misery" and "This old man".
