by Lothar Landt (29.09.2006) "At the graveyard" starts with Maiden-like guitars and a great drum solo, to greatly rock along and culminate in a cool chorus. Furthermore, you get a great solo part that perfectly varies between fast and melodic. The following "Black magic" is very atmospheric, mid-tempo and with great rhythm guitars, added by Niklas Stavind's high vocals defining the unmistakable sound of this album. "Steelwinged savaged reaper" is a classic up-tempo rocker. With the opening riff it is clear where it's leading to, and again, the chorus is very catchy. Another highlight is "The Bite" with its riff clearly influenced by Accept's "Restless and wild". Which is ok, because the song immediately invites you to bang your head and has enough uniqueness, especially by the break in the middle part. The following "Make friends with your nightmares" is another song worth mentioning. "The black flame" is definitely a great album that increases the value of every Metal collection.
