With 100 million records sold, Iron Maiden are among the most successful metal bands - their mascot Eddie is always in tow. In the EMP fan shop you can get various albums by this English band on vinyl.
How Iron Maiden almost became a punk band
Iron Maiden were founded in 1975. Because the prospects for a rock music band with a harder sound weren't very good at the time, their record company suggested they give punk a try. You can imagine that the guys would have become a good punk band too. Fortunately, however, the Brits stayed true to their sound and released their debut album 'Iron Maiden' in 1980.
In the 80s, a new Iron Maiden album followed almost every year. After their world tour in 1984 and 1985, at last, the guys from England had made it. Eddie was always there too. Who's Eddie? Iron Maiden's mascot - that's who! His picture adorns the cover of their debut album and since the beginning, Eddie can always be seen both at concerts and on the album covers. He slips into different roles to underline the theme of the respective album.
