Passkeys replace passwords and allow users to login with Face ID or Touch ID, instead of choosing and memorising complex passwords.
A passkey is a digital credential that is linked to a user account and a website or application. They allow users to authenticate themselves securely without entering a username or password. If you switch to a new device, passkeys can be quickly restored. For the person logging in with a passkey, the process is simple. In some cases, you will use your fingerprint or facial recognition in the same way as when unlocking your phone. Passkeys are also much more secure than passwords. Passkeys are a phishing-resistant method of logging in. Unlike passwords, passkeys cannot be stolen or guessed. Passkeys are always unique, strong and do not require the storage of private data on servers.
